On January 2, 2018, the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized an accreditation meeting on the Phase III Specifications of 5G Technological R&D Test. The accreditation panel reviewed the first batch of specifications for Phase III of the 5G technological test developed by the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group, which consisted of eight technical specifications, including the 5G core network equipment technical requirements, the 5G low-frequency base station equipment functional technical requirements, and the 5G terminal equipment technical requirements.

In the opinion of the panel, the technical principles for the 5G specifications are reasonable and the content is complete, which can effectively guide the Phase III test.

The Communication Industry News reporter learned that, after passing the accreditation, the Phase III test specifications will be officially released in mid-January. The accreditation panel said that the current 5G international standards have not yet been fully determined, and the test specifications was first formulated, further define the test objectives, contents and indicators, the specific requirements for equipment R&D and equipment interconnection, laying the foundation for Phase III R&D, supporting the 5G international standardization and industrialization, laying a solid foundation for the next process enterprises to carry out scale trials, and promoting the better and faster development of 5G.

China attaches great importance to the development of 5G, and established the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group to comprehensively promote the 5G technological R&D test. Currently, the Phase III test is about to get into full swing.
